The council is searching for two dedicated Youth Representatives between the ages of 15 and 25 to represent the voices and perspectives of young people in council discussions and decision-making processes.

This initiative aims to empower young individuals to play a crucial role in shaping the future of their community. Responsibilities for the Youth Representatives include gathering and relaying ideas from young people, promoting engagement in council activities, participating in meetings and debates, and building connections with youth groups and organisations.

Being a Youth Representative is not only a chance to contribute to the community but also an opportunity to learn about local governance and democracy, which can be beneficial for future career opportunities.

For those interested in applying or needing assistance with the application process, they can reach out to Sorelle White at 01686 639179 or [email protected]. You can also download more information here https://newtown.org.uk/youth-representatives

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday, May 24th, 2024, with the selection of the Youth Representatives taking place during the Council meeting on Monday, June 24th, 2024.

Successful applicants will be contacted to prepare for their new role.
