Newtown AFC faced off against Colwyn Bay FC in the 3rd round of the Welsh Cup at Latham Park.

The game unfolded with intense drama, culminating in a 1-1 draw, with Colwyn Bay eventually triumphing 3-5 on penalties.

The match showcased skill and determination from both teams, with Newtown taking the lead in the 58th minute thanks to a well-executed goal by Aaron Williams.

However, Colwyn Bay fought back, refusing to be outdone on Newtown's turf. In the 80th minute, the visitors found the equalizer as Jamie Cumming netted a crucial goal, injecting renewed energy into the match and leaving fans of both teams on the edge of their seats.

With the scores level at the end of regular time, the fate of the teams rested on the drama of a penalty shootout. Colwyn Bay showcased nerves of steel, converting all five of their penalties. Thomas McCready, Nick Rushton, Jamie Cumming, Udoyen Akpan, and Matthew Hill each found the back of the net, securing their team's passage to the next round.

Newtown was unable to match Colwyn Bay's precision from the spot. Callum Roberts, Aaron Williams, and Louis Robles successfully converted their penalties, but it was a miss by Henry Cowans that ultimately proved decisive.

In the league, Newtown remain 4th and will play rivals Aber away on the 14th November.
