Cllr Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys said:

"Normally the crews always plan to work over the bank holidays to avoid causing undue disruption to collections."

"But the significance of this bank holiday is not lost on us. We believe, that as a mark of respect for the Queen and the royal family, we should not be asking our crew to work next Monday."

"Our crews are always so hard working, especially in the recent difficult circumstances faced by the waste and recycling service due to staff shortages. Often working long hours or even double shifts to try and ensure rounds are completed, and bins are emptied. It is only fair and respectful that we allow them to take this extraordinary bank holiday off work."
