Over the last two days, three companies have announced their intention to depart from the town centre.
We woke to the sad news on Monday that Health Loaded, the customisable lunch shop will be shutting it's doors on the 28th January 2023. On the same day we also heard of the news that Magik Incorporated, who run a resource centre on the High Street would also be closing down, citing the rising cost of energy.
Then on Tuesday we saw that Rainbows End, a staple of our town centre for a long time would be closing on the 28th February 2023.

It appears that the model of our 1980s high street is coming to an end. The internet and the ease of delivery means that the traditional shopper is converting and our high street is evolving into a place of food, drink and meeting up.
With Welsh Government spending more than £100 million in the next financial year to cap business rates, private landlords controlling rents and energy increases across every sector, what more can be done by the powers that be to stem the tide?
I would suggest that it starts with us. If we don't support and shop local, how can these shops survive?
