Powys County Council has recently announced the appointment of Emma Palmer as their new Chief Executive.
The decision was made during a meeting of the full County Council held on Tuesday.
Emma Palmer, who currently serves as the Director of Corporate Services, will be taking on her new role in the near future. She will be succeeding Interim Chief Executive Jack Straw, who has been in the position since April.

In response to the appointment, Jack Straw extended his congratulations to Emma and wished her success in her new role. He stated, "I congratulate Emma on her well-deserved appointment and wish her well for the future."
Emma Palmer brings over 24 years of experience in the public sector in Wales, specifically in senior local government positions. In her six years at Powys County Council, she has held executive positions including Director of Corporate Services and Head of Transformation and Communications.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Emma Palmer said, "I am absolutely delighted to have been offered and accepted the position of Chief Executive of Powys County Council. Having been born and grown up in Powys, I feel very privileged to have been appointed to serve the county."
Emma has been a lifelong resident of Powys and currently resides near Brecon with her family. (Word count: 216)
