Town councillors recently heard about the work being undertaken by Newtown Street Pastors, in which they welcomed the incredible work they do in the community.

Street Pastors is a community-focused initiative where Christians actively address issues related to crime and safety in Newtown. At the core of Street Pastors' ethos is the principle of "Caring, Listening, Helping."

Volunteers from various churches, regardless of their backgrounds, come together to contribute to the safety and well-being of the community.

They are known for their peaceful and practical assistance on nighttime streets, providing a compassionate and supportive presence.  Approachable and non-judgmental, Newtown Street Pastors wear uniforms, caps, and distinctive bags that make them easily identifiable.

Working in collaboration with local authorities, registered services, law enforcement, businesses, as well as bars, pubs, and clubs, they offer practical support to vulnerable individuals.

Whether it's assisting those under the influence of drugs or alcohol, aiding the homeless, supporting those affected by mental illness, or guiding the young, lost, or lonely, Newtown Street Pastors are there to lend a helping hand.

Their presence on the streets and in public places ensures that those in need receive appropriate guidance and are directed to available support services.
