A Newtown resident is set to face sentencing next month after confessing to assaulting a woman and causing damage to her vehicle.

As reported by the Powys County Times, David Cross, a 38-year-old individual residing at Ffordd Eglwys, admitted to the charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage to a Vauxhall Zafira car during his appearance at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on September 5th.

Due to the nature of the offenses being domestic in origin, the magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared, leading to the postponement of the sentencing for a month.

The incidents in question occurred on February 5th earlier this year in the Ffordd Eglwys area.

Prosecutor Helen Tench shed light on the matter, stating that the offense took place within a domestic setting and involved multiple instances of kicking and punching.

David Cross will return to court for his sentencing on October 3rd. He has been granted conditional bail until then.
