Eight candidates will contest a county council by-election next month, Powys County Council has confirmed
The by-election for the Rhiwcynon ward will take place on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. The by-election is taking place to fill one vacancy following the resignation of Heulwen Hulme last month (April).
The candidates are:
- Richard Edward Amy - Welsh Liberal Democrats
- Ann Jones - Plaid Cymru
- Richard Breese Jones - Independent
- Oliver Lewis - Reform UK
- David Markinson - Independent
- Rhodri Parfitt - The Green Party
- Paul Wixey - Welsh Labour
- John Yeomans - Welsh Conservatives

Anyone who isn't registered to vote have until Thursday, May 16, 2024 in order to vote in this election. To register to vote visit www.gov.uk/registertovote
Electors should take note that applications to vote by post or requests to change or cancel an existing application must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells by 5pm on Friday, May 17, 2024.
Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells by 5pm on Friday, May 24, 2024. Proxy applications can be found at Elections and Voting on the Council's website.
